Victorian Gem LP$ $295.00
Description Below
This Gorgeous Antique
Swirl Ribbed Glass Hanging Lamp Shade in a Luscious Ruby Color
was made by the Hobbs, Brockunier Glass Company of Wheeling, West Virginia,
I believe. They called the color Gold Ruby. This Shade is almost
identical to one pictured on page 90 of "Wheeling Glass:1829-1939 - Collection
of the Oglebay Institute Glass Museum" by Baker, Eige, McCluskey, Measell,
Spillman & Wilson. This Exquisite Shade measures 8 7/8"
tall, 2 5/8" across the top opening and 4 3/16" across the outer edge of
the bottom fitter rim.
Mint Condition with No
Chips, No Cracks, No Nicks or No Fleabites. Upon close inspection,
there can be seen a few tiny bubbles here and there in the glass and one
or two minute sand Inclusions, all in the making and giving added charm
and grace to the Shade. Hobbs, Brockunier was founded in 1845 and
taken over by the United States Glass Company in 1891 and subsequently
closed by them in 1893. I believe this Shade is from the 1870's or 1880's
and possibly even from the 1860's. It is a Magnificent Piece in Both
Color and Design and would add style and elegance to your Victorian
Home. Shades like this are getting rarer and harder to find every
year. The price of this Exquisite Victorian Gem is $295.00
plus shipping and insurance which will be required. Of course if you live
on the Eastern Shore or surrounding areas and wish to pick it up in person,
Arrangements can be made.
